Scott takes aim at Formula 1
At just 14 years’ old, Scott Kin Lindblom has already
been working towards this dream for eight years, consistently
delivering race results above expectations for his age – and he
has the accolades to show for it: most notably an FIA World
Karting Championship medal and becoming the WSK Euro
Series Champion.
Scott made an early jump to the FIA Karting World and European
championship category OK-Junior at just 11, competing against
the world’s best 14-year-olds. And he delivered immediately.
At his WSK Euro series (World Series of Karting) debut, he took
overall pole, set the fastest lap, a new event record and won heats
and the pre-final. He followed this up by leading the pre-world and
Italian Championship as well as narrowly missing out on winning
the FIA World championship when fighting for the top spot. He was
then hand-picked by the famous Tony Kart Racing Team (affiliated
with the Ferrari Academy Driver programme) for 2023/2024 and
won WSK races and the FIA World Championship Bronze medal.
The decision was made for Scott to step up to the OK senior
category one year early with Kart Republic and he dominated
the WSK Euro Series by taking pole, winning all heats, pre-finals
and finals, and becoming Champion by a huge margin.
Scott’s impressive karting results caught the attention of the
key players in motorsport and it was no surprise when he was
selected as one of only 11 junior drivers to participate in the
global 2024 Red Bull Driver Search.
The three-day test was Scott’s first taste of a Formula car,
not that you would know it. Scott quickly got to grips with
the F4 car and his natural talent and competitiveness won him
one of the coveted Red Bull Junior Driver spots up for grabs.
In Red Bull Junior Driver colours, Scott has made the initial
step up the motorsport ladder to Ginetta where he has had his
first taste of racing outside of karting in the Ginetta Winter Series
and off-season testing programme, in preparation for his first
full season of the British Ginetta series in 2025 with R Racing.
Scott has a clear career path trajectory and is ticking all the
boxes. Follow this young talent on his journey to Formula One.
The Red Bull Driver Search is a pivotal process of selection for the Junior Team,
with the testing of hand-selected driver candidates from across the globe. In August 2024, the three-day invitational
took place in Jerez with 11 young drivers between the ages of 13-16, each testing Formula cars in a shootout format.
The young drivers’ performance wasevaluated by Dr. Helmut Marko, Red Bull Motorsports Consultant and Head of the
Red Bull Junior Driver programme. “What is important here is that we see most of them for the first time in a Formula 4 car. How
they adapt, how quickly they progress and how their improvement is during a 2-day
test. We are looking for both talent and speed, a driver to win a Grand Prix.
We are really focused on how good these drivers are under pressure and on qualifying simulations,” he said. Scott said of the test, “my biggest
challenge was adjusting my driving style from Karting to F4 because it was my first time in a F4 car”. But Scott proved a fast
learner, immediately posting competitive times and impressing Dr Marko who announced his selection into the
Red Bull Junior Team. The Red Bull Junior Team programme is a major boon for Scott’s career and is a powerful indication of the potential
Red Bull see in him.
