P3 Rookie and Red Flags at Brands Hatch
P3 Rookie for Scott Kin Lindblom in action packed race weekend with mixed results.
A serious accident cut race 2 short on Sunday morning. Scott Kin Lindblom was running P6, three positions up from start, when the red flag came.
– Positions and results don´t matter at all when something like this happens, I just hope that those involved in the crash will be ok. I send all my wishes for a speedy recovery, Scott says.
Race 3 of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch was Scott Kin Lindbloms most successful during the weekend – P3 rookie and P4 in total. Starting from P7 Scott gained two positions through classic Druids bend, and kept following team mate and championship leader Rocco Coronel close in the chase for more points. With seven minutes remaining of the 15 minute race the red flag came out due to recovery of a crashed car. After the restart and in the remainder of the race Scott went up to P4, and P3 Rookie.
– Another race interrupted by heavy crashes and a red flag, after the restart we had a shootout of three laps. I charged hard and had to defend at the same time, satisfied with finishing P4 and P3 Rookine, Scott says.
The red flag was not the first of the weekend. In Sunday mornings race 2 a serious accident occurred, an the remaining field were taken off track during the rescue and recovery of those involved. Race 2 was not restarted and half points will be given for it.
Race 1 on Saturday evening was an action packed affair, where Scott Kin Lindblom amongst overtakes and many other things managed to avoid a close call – a car sliding sideways onto track after a grass excursion – at the same place where the crash in race 2 was.
– That was a proper code brown moment, really scary, says Scott who started P7 and finished P7. Although, since Harry Bartle, Pace Performance, was given a 4 positions penalty Scott Kin Lindblom got the points for P6.
Scott is in fifth position in the championship standings.
Next round in the Ginetta Junior Championship is at Croft on September 6-7.
