Scott Kin Lindblom Claims First British F4 Victory

Scott Kin Lindblom claimed his first British F4 victory on Sunday. The 16-year-old Red Bull Junior started from the front row in the second race at Donington Park and secured a convincing victory in the fiercely competitive British Formula 4 Championship.

– I’m really happy! I got a good start and had incredible pace throughout the race, so yeah… I’m really happy, says Scott Kin Lindblom.

The weekend at the iconic Donington Park marked a milestone for Scott Kin Lindblom. A difficult qualifying session left him starting tenth for the opening race, where he finished P9 on the road but was handed a five-second time penalty for track limits.

– Not much to say about qualifying, unfortunately. There was a red flag on my push lap, and that made things difficult. I had a bit of an imbalance in the car during the race, but we sorted that out ahead of Race 2,”says Scott Kin Lindblom.

In Race 2, the Swede had a much better starting position.

Lindblom made the most of the opportunity and, starting from P2 on the grid, drove to his first British F4 victory. He held off Lewis Wherrell to win the 12-lap race by 1.245 seconds.

The victory came after a strong performance in which Lindblom also set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:29.975.

– We had really good pace in the car and I made a good start and managed to pull away throughout the race, says Scott Kin Lindblom.

The first victory was also the highlight of a weekend in which Lindblom demonstrated strong race pace and an ability to move through the field. In the opening race, which he started from P10, he finished P12. In the third and final race, Lindblom started from P11 but fought his way up to P6. He therefore gained five positions in the final race and left Donington Park with his first British F4 victory and another top-six finish.

– Going from P11 to P6 in the final race is good in this championship. I should actually have moved up to fourth in the championship standings, but because of the 12-points penalty for tough driving earlier in the season, I’m now sixth in the championship. But I’m very happy with the weekend considering the circumstances qualifying put us in,” says Scott.

Scott Kin Lindblom is now on his way to Valencia for the fourth and final FREC test, Formula Regional European Championship (European Regional F3 Championship), taking place on Monday and Tuesday.
